Privacy policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
Last updated: 1 September 2026
French Learners Castle (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet our obligations under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Who we are
French Learners Castle, 1 Yonge Street, Suite 1801, Toronto, ON M5E 1W7, Canada. Phone (905) 904-0560. Email bonjour@frenchlearnerscastle.ca. Our website is https://frenchlearnerscastle.ca.
What we collect
- Information you give us: name, email address, phone number, your stated French level and learning goals, and anything else you type into a form or tell an instructor.
- Payment information: handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment and the last four digits of a card; we never store full card numbers on our systems.
- Learning records: attendance, assessment results, lesson notes and certificates.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring site, collected through cookies and analytics.
Why we collect it
- To deliver the lessons, courses and assessments you have requested.
- To schedule, confirm and reschedule sessions.
- To process payments and issue receipts.
- To answer enquiries and provide support.
- To send service messages, and — only with your consent — occasional newsletters you can unsubscribe from in one click.
- To improve our teaching materials and our website.
Consent
We collect personal information with your knowledge and consent. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate — payment processing, video conferencing, email delivery, website hosting and analytics — and only to the extent they need it. Some of these providers store data outside Canada, which means it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We may also disclose information where required by law.
How long we keep it
Learning records and financial records are kept for seven years to meet tax and accounting obligations. Enquiry records that do not lead to enrolment are deleted after twenty-four months. You may request earlier deletion of anything we are not legally required to keep.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Write to bonjour@frenchlearnerscastle.ca and we will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember preferences and measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may stop working properly if you do.
Children
Where we teach learners under sixteen, we collect and act on instructions from a parent or guardian, who may review or request deletion of their child’s information at any time.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and staff confidentiality agreements. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected individuals and the Privacy Commissioner if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be emailed to current learners.
