Terms & conditions

The terms that govern enrolment, payment, scheduling and cancellations.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

These terms govern the purchase and delivery of lessons, courses and related services from French Learners Castle, 1 Yonge Street, Suite 1801, Toronto, ON M5E 1W7, Canada. By enrolling, booking a lesson or purchasing a course you agree to them.

1. Services

We provide French language instruction: a self-paced online course, live online group classes, private tutoring online and in person in the Greater Toronto Area, examination preparation, and corporate training. Specific inclusions are described on the relevant page of this website.

2. Enrolment and payment

Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude Ontario HST, which is added where applicable. Payment is due before the first lesson of a package or term unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Corporate engagements are invoiced net-30.

3. Free trial

The free trial lesson is limited to one per learner, requires no payment details, and carries no obligation to purchase.

4. Scheduling, cancellation and missed lessons

  • Private lessons may be rescheduled free of charge up to twelve hours before the scheduled start. Cancellations inside twelve hours, and non-attendance, are charged in full.
  • Group classes are recorded and made available the same day. A learner who cancels at least twelve hours ahead may attend the equivalent class in another group that week, subject to seats.
  • We may reschedule a class if an instructor is unwell or a group falls below the minimum size. Where we cancel, you receive a replacement session or a pro-rata refund.

5. Refunds

  • Self-paced course: full refund within fourteen days of purchase, on request, without justification.
  • Lesson packages: unused lessons are refundable at any time at the rate actually paid. Lessons already delivered are not refundable.
  • Group class terms: refundable in full before the term begins, and pro-rata for remaining classes within the first two weeks. After that, the remaining term may be transferred to another person.
  • Corporate engagements: governed by the signed agreement.

6. Packages and expiry

Lesson packages do not expire. Course access described as lifetime means for as long as we operate the course platform; if we discontinue it we will give at least ninety days’ notice and provide downloadable materials.

7. Learner conduct

We expect courtesy toward instructors and other learners. We may remove a learner, without refund for delivered services, for harassment, discriminatory conduct, disruption of classes, or sharing paid materials.

8. Intellectual property

All course videos, PDFs, worksheets, recordings and materials remain our property and are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, resell, publish or share them, and class recordings may not be redistributed.

9. Certificates

Certificates we issue record completion of a level of our own programme. They are not official DELF, DALF, TEF or TCF certification, which can only be issued by accredited examination centres.

10. No immigration or legal advice

We prepare learners for language examinations. We do not provide immigration, legal or career advice, and nothing on this website should be relied on as such. Confirm all official requirements with IRCC, an authorised representative, or the relevant institution.

11. Liability

We deliver our services with reasonable skill and care. We do not guarantee a particular examination score, level or outcome, which depends on your own study and performance. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

12. Privacy

Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes

We may update these terms; the version in force is the one published when you purchase. Material changes are emailed to current learners.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable there, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction.
